Comment: Eirene daughter of Ptolemaios from Alexandria won in the harma polikon in the Panathenaia of 170-169 BC Eirene became the first priestess of Queen Arsinoe in 199 and she held the office until 171/0 (Tracy 1991, p. 145). Her father, Ptolemaios, was sent as an ambassador to Rome in 204 (Polybius, The Histories, 15.25.14). Between 197 and 180 Ptolemaios was governor of Cyprus, after having inherited the office by Polykrates, the son of Mnasiades, of Argos (Polybius, The Histories, 18.55.6-9).
