Comment: The statue of Asamon was made by Pyrilampes of Messene (see entry nos. 343, 346). Moretti 1957, no. 452 initially dated the period of activity of this sculptor in the mid-4th century BC and suggested the victory took place at the 110th Olympiad (= 340 BC). However, recently, the date has been changed to the second half of the 3rd century BC (Siewert & Taeuber 2013, no. 26). A more cautious dating to the 3rd century BC seems reasonable.
