Comment: Eikasios/Ikesios was the grandson of Hermesianax, who was also victorious in the boys' wrestling-match at the Olympic games (Paus. 6.17.4; see ID 1076 in this database). As we have dated his victory in the second half of the 4th century BC (Moretti: 320 BC), we may suggest Eikasios' victory to have taken place around the mid-3rd century BC. Moretti (1957), no. 557 suggests the 131st Olympiad (= 256 BC). SEG 53.1300 (= SEG 58.1333) records an inscription from Klaros dated to 250-200 BC, in which Ikesios, son of Lykinos, appears as prytanis. This must be the same person as the Eikasios mentioned by Pausanias. [DvdL]
